Kidnap
The camera shots i think are effective are: the close up on Halle Berry and her son when they are in the car on the way to the park/fair. Her actions in this shot are loving and shows she is committed to him with all her heart. Establishing shot which was used to show the setting of where they are and where most of the action begins. This plays with cheerful music in the background to state that they are having a good time and are happy. The quick fast paced snippets including close ups, high angle shots, medium shots and long shots suggests that something bad has happened. This could draw in the audience and intrigue them so that they carry on with watching the movie. The music used starts of happy and cheerful one minute and the mood completely changed. The music suddenly turned very fast paced and intense which draws people in. The pacing of the Trailer starts of quite slow; it shows that they are excited and cheerful and it also shows snippets of the setting, how they got to where they went, the mother and son and the weather. As the trailer carries on and the mood changes dramatically the snippets that occur in the trailer become sped up and last a couple of seconds each unless they have speech included. This is used in the way it is as it presents the mood and how quickly things have changed. The music and the fast dilemma snippets link to the music and when there is a noticeable beat and it stands out the snippets/trailer setting changes. Costumes in this trailer are normal everyday life wear; they're only going out for the day. This is used as if they were wearing unusual clothes/costumes people would recognize it and this could then effect their performance and acting towards the film. The story line in this trailer/movie seems to be a kind of typical action/thriller movie with a twist on the theme and outcome at the end. It depends on the audiences opinion towards the movie as people have a different opinion and could prefer a different outcome and picture it in a different way. The titles are played towards the end of the trailer which is effective as they fall on the beat of the music and it also includes the quote "how far would you go to save your child?" this suggests that Halle Berry will go to no limit to save her child as he is her world and she cant live without him. It starts of with it saying that the maker of Kidnap is also the producer of Salt and Transformers, then the quote, after a little while it says Halle's name even though most people probably know its her, lastly it says Kidnap which is the name of the movie but people would have gathered its called Kidnap as that is what the film is about. We know its a movie of action/thriller by the music that is playing, how the mother runs after the car/holds onto the car whilst its moving, screaming her child's name (Frankie), an action thriller nearly always starts of happy/cheerful with a normal family going out for the day then a dramatic situation occurs suddenly but almost always it ends up with a happy ending and it all goes back to normal. Mise En Scene is used effectively in this movie. The movie is an action/thriller and needs to have the right equipment to show that to the audience. The action side was done effectively and the right things were done and used. Halle ran after a running car that was trying to escape, she jumps onto the side of the car alongside the dramatic music playing in the background. The director used a small toy for the child to play with so you know its his. He has a walkie talkie that they were talking into and it flashes to catch your eye a little bit more. As the movie carries on the walkie talkie was left on a bench and thats when she realized her son was missing. To make the scene more of an action/thriller the dramatic music pulls you in and as it gets more frantic Halle jumps onto the car and the car speeds off causing her to fall to the ground; she gets up her phone fell out her pocket. The movie carries on a bit and she is frantically searching all in her handbag for her phone but she couldn't find it so she had no choice but to go to the police station.
